Heat Advisory and Local Shelter

July 17, 2019

Hello Residents of Prairie Grove,

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory from noon Thursday to 11:00 PM Friday with heat indices of 101 to 109 degrees possible.  Those without air conditioning, the elderly, small children and pets are particularly susceptible to heat-related illness.  Please take a moment to check in on elderly neighbors if applicable.

Our Village Hall, located at 3125 Barreville Road, is an air conditioned shelter that can be used to escape the heat if needed.  The building is open from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM; however, we will keep the building open as long as necessary should any of our residents require shelter.  If you arrive after hours, please call 911 and request an officer to unlock the building.

Please be careful and remember to look out for one another!

Respectfully yours,

Dave Underwood, Village President

Valley Hi Rebate

June 20, 2019

Valley Hi Rebate for McHenry County Residents

Valley Hi Nursing Home, McHenry County’s long-term skilled nursing facility, has amassed a fund surplus of approximately $40 million, or enough to cover more than three years of operations.  After months of discussion, the McHenry County Board voted on April 16, 2019, to rebate $15 million of it back to homeowners who take the homestead exemption.  The Illinois Fiscal Resposibility Act provides the process by which surplus funds can be rebated.  The Valley Hi program follows this law.

The two-month rebate application period will begin on May 31, 2019, and end on July 31, 2019.
